Bi Polar? [Question]
Hey
I was just wanting some advice on my depression. I've had depression ever since I was 10 years old when I was diagnosed with diabetes type 1. Now, I find that I go through stages of being really really depressed (Nothing is worth it, I get v. suicidal and self harm) or rediculously happy, (butterflies in my stomach, everything is so wonderful, Not a care in the world, etc etc).. for months at a time (But sometimes just weeks or days). And I was just wondering.. Could I be bi polar? I know I shouldn't diagnose myself on the internet, and I promise I won't, but I was just wondering if this is something I should mention as a possibility to my doctor, or consider looking into myself?
Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Xoxo

Are you under the care of a mental health team? If so then voice this concern to them. If not, speak to your GP and ask to be referred. Its hard to say if it is Bipolar. It can be hard to pin down. I've been told I've got both Borderline Personality Disorder and Bipolar, so sometimes things aren't clear cut. I think you should see a professional who can help you.

yeah, definately mention it to your doctor, because it's obviously causing you major concern.
Also, there is a link between type 1 and depression type issues. Have you spoken to your DSN about it at all, because there are loads of groups and help for people with diabetes and depression issues, and waiting lists are generally loads shorter than for normal Mental Health services.
PM me if you need a chat or anything (I have type 1 too)
Sorry if this didn't help

I am diabetic too, what are your blood sugar levels doing when this happens? Sorry not trying to minimise your symptoms because
I was diagnosed bi polar before I got the diabetes, but i find that my blood sugar levels seem to/or can play a large role in my changing moods.
For instance when hypo, i feel so low, even suicidal, give me some sugar and stabilise me and it can dissapear or lessen the severity, and when i am hyperglycemic I become manic.
But you should def talk to a Dr. Do you have a good dr?
