Stopping meds?
I'm thinking about just not taking my meds anymore... not the whole lot, I'm on a few different ones, I just want to stop the Depakote.
I think it's making me gain weight... and I just feel really numb. I don't really care if I go manic, I just want to feel something and not get fat! Gah :/
The only issue would be the anger... When I'm manic I get into serious rages. I don't want to hurt anyone, but I hate this numb, medicated state I'm constantly in.
Perhaps I should just lower the dosage? Hmmm what to do? :/

I couldn't agree more! it can be very, very dangerous to start playing around with ur medicines! Go and talk to ur dr and describe ur fears to them, BUT PLEASE DON'T START TO SELF-MEDICATE!
Best Wishes,
Craig

You have a few options really
keep taking it - the effect wears off, i used to get the horrible feeling
see ure doctor - and he could lower the dose
or if you come off it then you may relapse. But you could look at non-medication ways to deal with being manic, like therapy or whatever
hope this makes soe sense :S

The side-effects wear off. I've been on olanzapine on and off for two years and initially I'm knocked out and hungry all the time, but now I sleep 8 hours a night and I get hungry at normal times.
Don't self-medicate, as the others said.
If I stop my meds, I generally end up in A&E, so don't stop the meds.
Talk to your doctor about this please.

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.
I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.

You can't be entirely sure which of your medications, if any, are making you put on weight. As has been said, it's best to let your doctor know of your concerns. If your meds are stopping you from feeling then your dose can be lowered or something else could be tried in its place. Changing your dosage yourself can lead to very bad side effects and is likely to make things worse for you. Please seek out professional advice. Take care. xxx

I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.
Don't try to calm the storm, calm yourself, the storm will pass.
You didn't come this far just to come this far.
