what are they going to do if...

... I tell my Therapist what happened to me when I was a kid?

I'm scared that they might call the police and I couldn't see 'him' again.
Can they do things like that without my consent?

I'm probably just being worried about nothing, but this has been on my mind for like forever.

I'm 21, so I don't think they can do anything.
I jsut need to know for sure. I wanted to tell someone for a long time, but if I don't know for sure that they can't do anything then I wont tell anyone.

I just can't risk that I can't see him again, cause he owns my horse and I can't rist not seeing the horse again.

they can't make you do anything im almost positive if you tell someone. It will probably do you good to let it out to someone, you will probably feel better for it and in due course might even feel upto report it to the police yourself x x

well... I'm not going to report it, but I might eventually tell my Therapist about it.

It feels like it is going to tear me apart if I don't tell anyone, but the thought of telling someone is even worse. I'm just too scared and have to 'jump over my own shadow' (dunno if you say that in english. we say that in germany)

Maybe tell someone who can't do anything about it first, like someone who doesn't know you or where you live or anything? Or tell a helpline and don't give any details (you can do that; you can chat to them anonymously; and you can change the names of people etc).

that's a brilliant idea.

I was thinking about telling M. she's a social worker though. But I don't think she would do anything, cause she's more of a friend.

If you report that it is happening to you currently then it will probably be passed on to POVA which is the protection of vulnerable adults.
However, if it was in the past then they won't go to the police unless you specifically want them too. xx

POVA is now called Adult Safeguarding, in case they start using that term, and you are wondering what the heck they mean.

In general, it depends on how much of a risk. If it is happening to you now, or someone else (say a kid) is in danger, then they will go to the police.

If it is in the past, like the above poster said, unless you want to go to the police, they will do nothing. However they may refer to you to someone who deals with that area, such as a specialist counsellor. Again, that would happen only with your consent.

However, I notice you are in Germany. I dont know the legal system over there, so things may be different. However this is what would happen if the same situation occurred to you in the UK.

Thank you for the replies.
I'm not in danger and noone else is in danger.
So, if I got that right then they can't do anything without my consent. That's encouraging.
I'm still too scared to actually do it. But it's good to know that I can tell her whenever I'm ready.

I don't think there are big differences in different countries when it comes to things like that. I mean.. we have similar laws for driving and voting and drinking, so I guess that's similar too.
