I am not sure, as I have no experience with occupational therpaists. But I found this wikipedia article that may help.

I saw an occupational therapist last year but not at my home. I think basically what will happen is the OT will visit you in your home and assess your needs and then go from there.

ooo something i can actually advise on (i hope), as i can (kinda) speak to you as a professional (as well as someone with depression/self harm issues) as i have just qualified as an occupational therapist.

i should imagine the first time the OT sees you it will be a chat about you, your situation, your difficulties, your goals, and maybe complete some type of assessment to identify issues. they will then work with you to identify goals and what you would like to do, and such like. it could be for example that you want to take a bus to visit someone or somewhere but you can't face going on the bus (sorry if this isn't a good example). the OT may help you overcome that, by grading a plan so that you build up from maybe walking to the bus stop with her to eventually being able to achieve your goal.

hope some of that is useful, and i hope your OT visit goes well
don't be afraid to ask questions about what they do, occupational therapy is an often misunderstood profession and most people are happy to help you understand.
feel free to pm me if you want to, i'll try my best to answer any questions you have.
good luck

*big hugs*

I don't have any experience of this but i'd like to wish you will. If you feel uncomfortable at all during the OT's visit then let them know. It will be more helpful if you are honest about how you are feeling and maybe they could try to help you to feel more comfortable. I hope that it goes well, please keep us updated. Get in touch any time. Take care. xxx

I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.

Update

Ok so had my meeting with the OT, well first at least. She asked a lot of questions as you'd expect but i believe the main gist of it was to see the problem and what could be done about it. As was to be expected really. One important question she did ask was along the lines of what do you want to do? and at the time i couldn't answer it. Its important because then she has something to work towards and so on, as if you needed telling.

In the mean time ive been given a couple of things to do: fill in a chart type thing of what i do all day for a week, and fill out an intrests checklist of stuff i have been intrested in and stuff that i would be intrested in doing.

Fun fun fun. Oh and next time shes going to be bringing stuff about what i have and things, lol im not entirely sure really. Anyway it all went well which is good, seeing her again in 2 weeks.
