Triggering (Sexual Abuse) - she compaired me to sybil

Yesterday i went to go see my shrink whom i have been seeing for about a year now, in the middle of the session she asked me if i ever read or seen sybil, I had not so i told her no but i said that i kind of know about it. Well she said that I am similar to sybil. She said that during some of my sessions with her that she has talked to other what she calls alters, and not me. I did not know this at all it came as a big shock she said that since i had very very bad sexual abuse when i was younger and it lasted for 5 years my mind has created people to protect me when i myself can not. I do not know much about what she is saying but i am kindof scared and do not know what to do.

Fat fell down and broke her face
Skinny said ha-ha I won the race.

You might find this helpful Understanding dissociative disorders [link]

I understand how scary it can feel, especially as right now you aren't conscious of the splitting and dissociation.

I have a trauma related dissociative disorder this thread dissociative distress thread *Triggering (Abuse)* [link] explains things a bit more. Other folks here who dissociate have also contributed to the thread.

I am a member of an excellent Dissociative Disorder and PTSD support forum for survivors of abuse and trauma. You might like to have a look round there. It's called A Mind's Journey [link]

I would ask your therapist for some more information next time, and, although it can feel scary, trust the process of therapy. It'll take time to understand some more of what's happening, and make connections. But you have support, and there are lots of people out there who deal with similiar. Keep talking to us too if that helps.

I do not know a lot about dissociative disorders but they sound like hell to work through. It seems that getting specialized help might do some good. If there you feel comfortable enough at some point, checking out a good support group (if you're able to find one in your area) might be helpful so you feel a little less alienated.

Best of luck and take it easy, ok? Much love, and if you need a listening ear, I have two.

I also think that it would be a good idea to talk about it more with your therapist. It's bound to be scary for you to find out something suddenly that you weren't aware of, I can understand how you might be feeling. I'm sorry I don't know much about this, I just wanted to let you know that i'm thinking about you. Please keep us updated, get in touch any time. Take care. xxx

I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.

Don't try to calm the storm, calm yourself, the storm will pass.

You didn't come this far just to come this far.
