As you know I'm currently in psych hospital.
I've been taking haloperiol PRN (take when necessary) for three weeks so far. I've been taking it every day and sometimes twice a day. It is very effective against the voices. When I am hearing voices and am very distressed, they give me the haloperidol and it works wonders. I asked them if I could be put on it as a daily medication (like my olanzapine), but they said no as there are too many side-effects. But the olanzapine doesn't do much for the voices/hallucinations/distress and without the haloperidol for moments of distress I wouldn't get through the day. It doesn't give me many side-effects and if I do have side-effects, they're mild and I take procyclidine for it.
Do you think its worth trying to convince the doctor to write me up for it as a daily medication, or would you say that its too harmful? I would do almost anything for the voices/hallucinations/apparent delusions to go away.
Haloperidol is one of the older antipsychotics I believe.
But it works so well...

	PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student. I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out. I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included. Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.
