Chapter 239
The car screeched to a halt outside Frank and Gerard’s house and they rushed frantically towards it, having to wait while Frank fished around for the key in his pocket. He managed to find it before fumbling around trying to get it in the lock unsuccessfully and he dropped it at least three times before Amy snatched the key out of his grasp,
“Let me do it!”

Frank opened his mouth to argue but quickly stopped himself, knowing that girls could easily match Gerard’s temper if they wanted to. Amy jammed the key into he locked and turned it before pushing the door open and rushing in, Tom and Frank following quickly behind. The three of them were about ready to dive in and stop the fight, so it wasn’t surprising that they were shocked to see Gerard and Bill on the sofa in fits of laughter.

“Uh, I don’t think they’re quite killing each other yet.” Said Frank stupidly, only to receive funny looks from Tom and Amy for stating the obvious.

Bill and Gerard had managed to control their laughter enough to speak. They’d both heard what Frank had said but hadn’t been able to get any words out,

“Well, we talked.” Smiled Gerard, still fighting to keep his laughter in,
“Yah and though things aren’t completely how they were, we’re friends again. Neither of us wanted to see the group split up.” Replied Bill, giving his friend a warm smile as he said it,
“What do you mean, not completely how they were?” Asked Tom. As much as Gerard had hurt him and his twin, all he wanted to do was put all of this behind them and carry on how things were,
“Well,” Replied Gerard, “It’s gonna take a while for me to gain trust again and I completely understand that. I shouldn’t have done what I did and anyway, I’m just glad I’ve still got you guys.”

Tom and Amy went over to hug their friend before sitting down, followed by Frank who sat in Gerard’s lap and looked around at them all,
“So, what are we gonna do now?”
“MOVIE” laughed the rest of them. Frank smiled and got up to put a movie in the DVD player, smiling to himself. It really was good to have all of his friends back.

A few days later the whole group were squashed into their lounge. Normally they’d have fitted in quite nicely but today they also had to accommodate Bob’s drum set, Frank and Ray's guitars and Mikey's bass. All the parts had been written for the song and now they were ready to show the rest of the group. Gerard looked around. Every single member of the group was there and it was nice to have all his friends around, just like it used to be. But it was making him nervous. The only people who’d heard him sing this song were the four guys he was performing it with. He glanced behind him to check the guys were ready to start and then took a deep breath as he heard the guitars kick in. He knew it wasn’t going to sound perfect but at least it was something towards what he wanted to do. He started to sing his lyrics nervously, but growing more confident as the song progressed until he was singing his heart out, putting everything he had into getting it right. Once they’d finished the song, the whole group were amazed by what they’d seen and heard. Gerard could barely hear himself think over the excited talking of his friends and he smiled happily. For the first time in months, he felt the way he used to feel, back when he and Frank were first together. The chatter of the group dyed down enough for Gerard to talk to the other four guys,

“So, this is it then. We need to start thinking about rehearsing and writing more stuff so we can do shows and then saving up for studio time.” Said Gerard, hardly daring to believe that this was actually happening,
“You need to get a job Gee.” Mumbled Frank looking at his fiancée
“What about you?”
“What? I have to look after Jaidon. I’m not leaving him with your mother after what happened at the hospital!”
“Hey!” Said Mikey in a mock-offended tone,

“Sorry but she was pretty crazy.”

Gerard looked up at his brother,
“You said Barnes and Noble were looking for people right?”
Mikey nodded. He’d already applied for a job there and recently been told he was successful in getting the job,

“I’ll have a word Gee; see if I can get you in there too.”

Gerard smiled gratefully at his brother. It was gonna be a lot of hard work but it certainly looked like the whole band idea really could pay off.
