I can understand where you are coming from, we all long for comfort and for someone to look after us and make things better. Self harming to be stitched up by someone who cares is a dangerous way of getting this comfort though. Is there anyone around who might be able to help you when you are at your lowest points and create a feeling of comfort for you? It sounds as if you have a good relationship with your GP and that because you don't feel so good when you are seen by the A&E nurses that you really are mostly self harming for the feeling of being helped by someone you trust.
How else might you be able to ask for support and comfort without self harming? I think it would be a good idea to tell your GP how you are feeling, she might be able to refer you to someone who can provide a supportive relationship. Of course, I don't think that your GP will feel good about you self harming in order to be helped by her but it is her job to take care of your medical needs when you require attention. I really hope that you can find a safer way of finding a close and comforting relationship. Please get in touch any time. Take care. xxx
