I did it
I hope this is okay to post in this forum since it is self-harm related but it's positive and not triggering.
Yesterday I wore short sleeves to work for the first time. This is the first summer that I've had noticeable scars on my arms and I haven't been wearing short sleeves in front of anyone, much less my co-workers and the many customers that I deal with at work. (I work mostly as a cashier so my arms are right there for people to see).
I was really really scared and I was literally shaking sometimes while I was at work, but I got through the day and it went okay. Not one person said anything to me about my arms, which was weird but I know that it could have been a lot worse and I'm lucky. Hopefully things will continue like that.
I am like 90% sure that at least some of my co-workers suspected that I was a self-harmer before yesterday, so it made it easier that they already knew. I'm more worried about the customers. But I just felt like I had to do this, because it's another step to moving on with my life after I quit cutting almost 6 months ago.
I don't know why I'm posting this really, I guess I just thought that this place needs more positive posts like this. Well, it's time to get ready for day two of bare arms at work.
