Hmmm my understanding is that an Approved Social Worker can section you under the Mental Health Act if they desire.I understand a social worker has to be an Approved Social Worker not just a normal one before they have the power to use the Mental Health Act.
That is just what i think but even so even if she is an Approved Social Worker and could be able to do such things does not mean that either she will or equally that she wont. Please just talk to her and your psych and i so hope they will listen.
i can feel that this must be such a difficult time for you but you really did do the right thing in being honest.
i cant give much information on being sectioned cos ive been in hospital voluntarily but not under section.i have been threatened with sectioning on a few occasions but have been lucky never to have had it happen.
I have a student social worker at the moment from the mental health team.He is leaving in June and i hope he will discharge me from the CMHT by then.i know that is his plans and that is ok by me as there is nothing more they can do.
But at one point i was anxious about being solely under his care as he is a student social worker but then i realised well at least he cant section me so im kind of at least a little more comfortable now in some ways and it can stay like that!!
im still very anxious about what he is going to say when he gets my overdosing diary in the post tomoro that he asked me to do for him though - he wanted to see it when i saw him but i wasnt brave enough.
But anyway sorry im going off track. Please just remember they are there to help you and i know its hard but try to remain honest and open to suggestions.
I would be say be cautious but dont let her being an Approved Social Worker automatically overwhelm you.
They would want whats best for you and are probably just very concerned. Good luck.
Keep talking to us!
