yes this is an American article, so i can quote from American sources because that is wear the article originated from. I know this is a uk based board but were talking about racing outside the uk too, or is that not allowed now because you live in uk, there is a thread about international users being allowed to discuss topics in forum and community questions if you care to have a look.

If you are supporting it on a whole than why mention different regulations?
Whoa, jeez oh! I was just making a comment on how I see things. I am from the UK so only have knowledge of the UK regulations and so base my opinions on them. If the US horse racing authorities don't want to set limits on whipping then that's their prerogative.
I was simply asking for a source which said that the horse had been whipped 'mercilessly'. It's pretty obvious that it'll be an American source since the original article was from the US.
On the whole I do support horse racing, because I don't see anything wrong with it. It would be good if there were some regulations to protect the animals but I'm sure the industry will be regulated adequately.
If you were to leave these horses to their own devices in the wild you'd no doubt find that they'd suffer an awful lot more than they currently do. There'd be no one to put them down if they get injured so would have to lie dying for hours in agonising pain; they'd probably struggle for food; they'd struggle to find land in which they'd be welcome (farmers don't take well to wild animals being on their land); and numerous other reasons.
