I hate urges. I hate them whether I'm going through a phase where Idon't want to harm or where I do so I definately know how you feel about it. Try and distract yourself, watch tele, listen to music, draw, write, go for a walk, whatever may take your mind off cutting. It might also help to talk to someone, a friend or a counsellor or even a family member. They might be able to help you with your problems so that you start to feel better. Even ifthey don't, the time you've spent talking to them has been more time which you haven't been cutting and been ignoring the urges so by the time you've finished they may have gone. Try and find other ways to cope rather than cutting such as writing stuff down, tlalking to someone or keeping yourself busy and then it might stop you from turning to cutting as often; though it doesn't work for everyone and you have to find things that work for you which can be really hard if you have a little voice in your head constantly telling you to cut.
As your friends know that you used to cut (by the sounds of what you said anyway) could you talk to them and explain that you're having a hard time at the moment and maybe not put pressure on you to buy a certain dress if you think that it might end up showing your cuts if you end up doing it coz I know friends can sometimes put pressure on people to buy certain things and that doesn't always make things easy.
