Hi, I have recently been discharged from a psychiatric hospital after being raped and having a complete breakdown (previous stuff i was trying to deal with too) before I went in I was self harming at least every other day and tried to commit suicide most days. To be completely honest my experience in the hospital was shit. The nurses really didn't care, I self harmed at least 3 times a day and when I asked the nurses to talk I got told they were busy...playing cards on the computer. I was supposed to be on 15minute obs and they came round once every 2 or 3hrs. I have come out worse then when I went in. Obviously everybody's experiences are different but just thought I would outline mine. Good luck with whatever you decided but you would have to go to your local A&E and they will call the mental health team if they deem it necessary then they will arrange for you to go into a psych hospital.
