Of course they are you can't really call yourself a scientist if you believe in religion. Religion in a way is a scientific theory though one which is untestable and therefore not a real science. Personally I think if you have a certain level of scientific understanding religion loses it's purpose.
I think it depends on what you mean by religion. I believe in a God but my God isn't an invisible man living in the sky with a long flowing beard. My God are the laws of physics - the natural laws that govern everything, allow everything to happen and keep everything in equilibrium. As Carl Sagan said "Science is not only compatible with spirituality. Science is a profound source of spirituality." It all depends on where you derive your spirituality from.
