Htaediii,
As I'm sure you are aware - the old chat way dying a horrible death and we wanted to change it to something that worked. The old chat didn't allow swearing either - so what do you feel is the difference between then and now?
With regards to the swearing kick - I'm pretty sure it is something like swearing 10 times in a row before you get kicked and you are warned before that. Functions like these are being discussed for the usability [as Jane has mentioned]. Regardless of the outcome, I personally don't see the need for excessive swearing when we are on a website of varying ages and when we try to desperately to accommodate everyone.
Also do be aware that RYL rules cover being "generally offensive, unpleasant" and unnecessary and excessive swearing would fall under this category.
Finally - you must not be generally offensive, unpleasant, argumentative, rude, abusive or bullying. Ganging up on members, driving them out of chat or off threads, or just being angry and mean to anyone on RYL without good reason, is very damaging to the stability of support and recovery within the community and must be avoided at all times. If there is a member that you find difficult to tolerate for whatever reason, it is your responsibility to keep yourself safe and take measures to avoid losing your temper - please refrain from retaliating, and use the ignore features where needed.
this seems fu**ed up to me.
Whilst swearing can sometimes have it's place, you have demonstrated a time when it isn't needed and something we try and account for across the site.
If you have any further concerns I'm sure more chat mods will reply here or you can email us [chatmods@recoveryourlife.com] or Harley [harley@recoveryourlife.com] and we'll do our best to help you out.
Chloe

We don't get given patience but the opportunity to be patient. Courage isn't handed to us, but we are given opportunities to be courageous.
