Queer relationship (because no clue what else to call it) but isn't the main main character. Found family. Uhhh. GOOD. REALLY enjoyed it and was the first book in years we started and genuinely wanted to keep going on. Loved the characters even if they were all broken and screwed up.
Also quite literally the first time we have come across in fantasy where trans folks were mentioned as a world building thing in passing and thought that was REALLY cool and fun. eta - HAVE BEEN INFORMED THERE IS A SEQUEL TOO
Hmm, I don't tend to like fantasy so that might have to be saved for a day when I'm feeling particularly bold!
