Examples of things GP could do:
* Have regular appointments with you every few weeks to months so that a medical human is checking in with you and aware of your mental state. Especially while you are in an adjusting to new medication period.
* Refer you for an assessment with CMHT. Help if offered might have long waiting lists but it's a good to get on the books if you can.
* Let you know about local services your surgery may offer such as a counsellor, MH nurse or social prescriber. Or things such as charity crisis cafes/support lines (in my area we have one run by mental health matters that all the professionals seem to give out leaflets about).
* Refer you to the crisis team if you are feeling really unsafe.
* Help advocate for you with any services they refer you to.
Side note some employers offer a free Employee Assistance Programme that can offer 24 hour support and/or up to 6 sessions of counselling. Your union would probably know what is available to you.
