SO. My research contradicts what Lio said! I found that shredded means you make it into little strings (like we would do with soft cheeses), and grated is literally just decimated into the tiniest pieces (like what you would do with a hard cheese). I assumed this was an American site because we would call both these things 'grated'.
Not willing to engage with the broil thing, that sounds confusing.
