Breathe in for seven seconds. Hold your breath for five seconds. Breathe out for seven seconds. Do this repeatedly, until you feel calmer.
It only takes me five to ten breaths before I feel a little better. Usually I yawn. Get real tired, too.
For some people, 4-7-8 works better, but I don't feel like four seconds of breathing in is enough. The point is to slow down your breathing. I feel like the counting helps occupy your thoughts, too.
