Have you thought about volunteering for an animal charity? Many charities require animal cuddlers, which are people who spend their time fussing and handling the animals in their care. That makes them more people friendly and therefore easier to rehome. It also means that the animals spend less time being bored in their cages, which can be a big problem for some animals (only dogs tend to spend time out of their cages). It provides the ideal solution for people who for many reasons cannot have animals of their own.
That sounds like a dream job, I've never heard of it before. I'd love to spend my time hanging around different animals.
I have trouble with social anxiety, and lately trouble with leaving the house. I know I wouldn't be able to handle something like that.
It's ok though, I am trying to make myself accept the fact that I'm not capable of a lot of things right now, being around animals is one of them.
