Of course, the answer is probably yes, considering that most of us are willing to do just that if it pays the bills and puts food on the table. I do every time I go to work and get rewarded for persuading people to buy **** they don't need.
Not convinced there's any need to be disparaging about the warm fuzzies though. Nothing wrong with wanting to do something you consider worthwhile. And while job security may be an issue (though that is certainly not an issue that is confined to the third sector) the pay is not going to be lower than the minimum wage you'll probably be paid in retail.
Anyway, returning to the actual point of this thread, lots of places won't contact you if you're unsuccessful. Yeah, it sucks. But honestly, you'd better get used to it. I have applied for countless jobs and not heard back. If you want feedback, then really it's going to be your responsibility to contact them.
