I'm sorry to hear that you have lost your job Brian, does your wife know how you are feeling at the moment?
I'm terrible at selling myself a job situation also, one thing I found helpful when completing job applications and preparing for interviews etc was not to think about how I viewed myself in that particular situation but think about about what things my colleagues or friends would view my strengths in that situation.
