Dreams can suck you in. There are various levels of sleep that are hypnotic. The imagination has its dangerous aspects. People who use their imaginations a lot (like artists, fiction writers etc) are more prone to psychotic illness and are among the most suggestible for hypnotists. During waking hours you want to notice the times you are slippy away into your head. Just noticing that has a way of countering it. When you are driving around, and begin to get lost in thoughts, that's a hypnoidal state. People can drive for awhile and realize they weren't even paying attention. Yanking yourself out of thought and feeling during waking hours will help. Learning to be less reactive will also help. Poeple suppress a lot of emotions during the day and then they bubble up at night
