I agree that it would be a good idea to respond to his questions by telling him that you're actually specifically there to talk about your mental health. I can understand the need to be polite, but do try to remind yourself that it isn't at all impolite to handle it that way, there is nothing wrong with it in the slightest. He's your doctor, he's there to help you, and not just with your physical health, so you are perfectly within your rights to tell him that's not what you're there for this time. Good luck :)
