I've got an iPad and a kindle and found the iPad extremely useful when at a conference the other week as I could look at different items as well as making notes. For ebooks some may not work on kindle as you can't download other things like you can with a tablet (except for kindle fire but that is a tablet in its own right) and some of them aren't formatted for kindle. I think I've got 1 or 2 ebooks on my kindle but others are on my laptop/ iPad and won't convert to kindle format as far as I am aware. Also, if they have colour pictures then a kindle wouldn't be the best format for it as it is a purely black & white device though obviously that depends if images have to be colour or not.
