[Avalon]

As a long time cutter I am very sensitive about my scars and don't like it when people comment on them or make it known that they are curious. I don't like the questions and I don't like the looks.
So how do I approach someone else who I think is a cutter without offending them in the same way I would be. I am not worried about them but I have a certain sense of curiosity about their scars. I think they are a cutter but it's not definitive because they have only a handful, but they look like SI scars.
I was thinking to ask "so how many porcupines did YOU tangle with?" To gauge their reaction, but of course, as a cutter myself I also don't want to put them under any undue stress or awkwardness, especially as this is a new room mate.
Any ideas or advice would be welcome
