Paramedics are not allowed to restrain people, hence why they could not stop the guy from taking the overdose. If they touched him they could have got in trouble for assault had he made a complaint.
I have mixed views on this series. I think they are trying to show mental health and what it actually causes people to feel, and to also show the impact it has on the emergency services.
Don't think it's been tastefully done in some ways though I don't believe that to be the paramedics fault.
