In my family we take jpegs of the dead when they are in their coffin and the family is standing around them. It's some cultural thing of the Aussiedler that they for some reason still do. I didn't even know I'd have to do this when my first grandpa died and it was a little bit of a shock. I didn't want to do this when my other grandpa died but was again told I have no say in this. It is absolutely weird and creepy. I mean, I have pictures of myself with a corpse.
It's definately the norm in some countries as once in a while my Facebook wall shows a picture of someone's relative in a coffin which freaks me out!
