He said that due to the physical abuse and neglect that Crystal suffered at the age when children tend to have imaginary friends, she kept hers as a way to cope with life.
It made a lot of sense when you think about it. She wasn't psychotic, just lost and lonely.
I still think it's a really interesting documentary.
I thought it was interesting too.
I just thought what he said about Crystal sounds like the rubbish that comes out of psychodynamic psychotherapy (I am so glad that I got discharged from that after three sessions). I didn't know that being lonely could make you hallucinate. But I understand that hallucinations can be non-psychotic, ie dissociative, drug-induced, sleep-deprived, as part of a medical condition (although Crystal's blood test came out ok).
