My GP let me put the make-up on repeat prescription, so I'm not sure why you're worried about having to get a repeat referral. Did they not talk about prescriptions with you?

Yes you're right I got mine for free on prescription that one time;
I heard about Red Cross giving the cover-up on prescription for people who had SI scars and decided like you I would see how good it was & try it out but then found out I needed a referral from a GP. I'd never actually had any treatment so I literally arranged an ordinary GP consult, walked in, sat down & said I had scars from SI & wanted a referral for the Red Cross. The GP was brisk and scoffed about time wasters and then gave me a luckily brief lecture saying she didn't realise people had to be referred but when I said I definitely did need to be she did agree to e-mail RedX & give them my post address so they could contact me, As I say she wasn't friendly but she also didn't demand me to show her my scars which was good & I left within about 4mins.
I got a letter from RedCross quickly after the gp appointment saying I was on a waiting list but it was a couple months + before I got an appointment booked; I actually had my appointment in a private room in a hospital where two red cross workers came in for the visit rather then in an actual red cross Centre (I'm in Edinburgh - Scotland).
I was very nervous about the actual appointment (especially after the GP being unfriendly) but they were excellent! They were very tactful/sensitive & also kind. They didn't blink/hesitate at the scars & didn't pry me with questions apart from relevant ones about my skins reactions & about the make up & ordinary chatter. It was the RedX who organised for me to pick up the prescription & I didn't think far enough ahead to ask during my appointment about how I would get more until it was too late. I don't have a way to contact the RedX people directly & I don't have the energy to start back by going to the GP again when I don't really use it much as I just wear L Sleeves. In my PS I was attempting to suggest people find a more direct route so they don't end up like I did & presumably just asking for a repeat prescription (as you say) might work if people don't have a regular doctor/GP like I didn't but don't wear LSleeves so will have more use for it & want more of it so would benifit for the free prescrition. X
