Also, almost any place in the world will appear cliquey when you don't know anyone, nobody really knows you, people are shy, people are mentally ill and people know you hate chat because you think it's dramatic and cliquey. (we're really not for the large majority and it's slightly offensive to be so strongly thought of that way.) :p The trick to chat and many other chatrooms for that matter is to come in regularly so people get to know you, get comfortable with you and you with them. I didn't know people's names when first I came in. So I asked. People told me. I learned them. I still forget them! So I ask again. It's like anywhere... you go to a new school, chances are all the students aren't gonna flock you to talk to you right away. It's not right or wrong but it's comfort, discomfort, shyness, distrust, something. Sometimes you have to speak up and get to know people.
