Both are a sign of affection, although as Jenna (the person above me) said, some people don't like the kisses, or the hearts (personally I'm not big on the kisses I don't really like them, but I will use them sometimes in texts and other messages as I know some people get offended if I don't, because they interpet this as me not liking them as much as they like me, or that I'm angry with them).
Lol, I actually have a system for how many x's I put on texts, etc. People who are close to me know that they've annoyed me if I don't put them on.
Awkward when I've just not put them on because I'm really busy/texting quickly though!

Yes, your communication rules are strict. Ceeb for trying not to put x's on texts as well as remembering not to call you certain terms.
