Bless you! My first experience with a tampon was more than stressful (I shan't go into details!!), but I assure you it is delightful once you get the hang of it. Was your mum's an applicator one? I'm back on non-applicator ones now because they're cheaper, but for the first few years I used applicator ones as they're so incredibly easy to use. I don't think they do the tampax mini anymore, but a tampax regular applicator tampon would be a good place to start if you ever feel brave enough to try again!
