Charlie - if your son regularly smoked weed when he is older (legal or not) would you be ok with it? Obviously kids are going to experiment, but if he was using it regularly would you see it as no more damaging than going for a drink with his mates?
I don't like the idea of it being legal. If it were up to me smoking would be banned too. The vast majority of people who use alcohol recreationally (sensibly) do not end up addicted or with long term mental health problems. Many people I know who smoke weed have become addicted. And have suffered from paranoia, not to mention how physically unfit they become similar to smoking normally.
I appreciate alcohol is dangerous. But mild-moderate drinking even over a lifetime is unlikely to cause any health problems. Smoking and weed are!
