You need to keep applying for jobs, even if they aren't the "perfect" one. You could also look into interning or volunteering with different organisations, although I know that that isn't always possible for people. If you can, it can be great for the experience, the reference and the "professional relevance".
You could also try to ask them for feedback on your application, although I wouldn't hold your breath on receiving any.
