For lock picking you need to be systematic. I tend to start at the top and then work down either side, although it depends on the difficulty how I do it. You also need to be slow and sort of nudge the lock along to see if it will give. If it doesn't then stop and start again. Oh, and pick up every pick you find. I've never had to buy any, but there are usually a few available to buy from blacksmiths and general goods shops.

If you are still finding it difficult, you could try putting a perk point or two into it to make things slightly easier could work. Or try to find an item (usually rings or gauntlets) that make it easier.

I still play Skyrim once in a while, but it gets very same-y.
