I remember when it was Ruin and we changed to Recover. Vets was created because a few us wanted a place where we could post for support and fun amongst our peers. RYL back then was very "young" and most people were teenagers. We wanted a place where we could discuss more adult topics because those topics usually dropped fast off the pages in the rest of the forums.
I don't mean to alienate younger members in any way but to me it means a lot to have a specific place here on RYL where i can go and ask for support from members closer to my age or older. I have always valued vets as a place to get this.
Should vets be closed down i don't think i would ask for support anymore because to me vets is "my safe place", the place where i can connect with people my age and recieve support from someone who has actually been there as opposed to someone who hasn't. If we should merge vets to keep it then do, i'd rather we didn't, but if that is what it'll take to keep it then better that than no vets at all.
Vets might seem cliquey to some but we do actually welcome new posters. I don't post much myself there but we have a lot of people who joined when they were teenagers who are now adults and i think it would be a totally awesome thing to have some of you start posting in vets and bring it back to life, so to speak :)
But please keep vets. WE fought hard to get it and it is an important part of RYL. And some of us really ancient people are still around who remembers what is what like before vets were created.
