It could potentially be infected but if the steri's haven't closed it then it may be that it is just because of it gaping and the general healing as well as it potentially being pulled around a bit when you were trying to close it. I'd recommend you get it looked at. If you live in England then you could go to a Minor Injuries Unit or go back to A&E; maybe even the same one you went to last, point out that you went there before and you are still having problems and you'd like to see someone else to whom you saw before and see.
As it's been a while now there will be less they can do but if it really needs it (depending on the severity/ position and a few other things) then they may be able to close it back together after removing the 'dirty/old' tissue at the edges of the wound.
