There is an episode of Horizon presented by Brian Cox called "time" and it's really interesting. It explores the question "what time is it."

Time is pretty subjective. The Mayans recorded it differently from the way we do, for example. Atomic time is the most accurate way of measuring time and is used in GPS and satellites.

Our days are also getting longer by about a minute every few thousand years (might be million, but it was a long time anyway)
