PS. Once, many years ago, my prep school Headmaster sat the whole school down on a wet afternoon and gave us a spelling test of 100 words. I got 99 but despite being given a second chance still couldn't spell "arctic" - 'cos I didn't recognise the first "c". But I still won - hooray! And I've double checked "antarctica" in my dictionary (Concise Oxford) before setting it.
