Anti-depressants may lose the effectiveness over a period of time but also might not be the right medication for you to control the symptoms...but your best to talk to your GP about it and find a solution. Just bring it up with your GP, saying like i think the medications isn't working properly and previously and i'm getting such and such symptoms reoccuring.
The doctor might put you on another anti-depressant...the one that comes to mind is lexapro (escitalopram) which is like a refined version of citalopram with fewer side effects compared to the original citalopram (since it kind of worked previously), or even a totally another drug itself.
