I had an MRI scan myself once and it was fine - it honestly doesn't affect your mind at all.
All an MRI scan machine can do is take a picture of the physical structure of your brain. It can't read your thoughts. It certainly can't change them or remove information.
It's more like having an X-ray done. If someone breaks their leg and gets an X-ray it's just a picture - the machine can't make any changes to the actual bones!
The only unpleasant aspect of an MRI scan is that it is slightly claustrophobic inside the machine, but there is a button to press if you want to come out at any point.
It sounds like you really need your CPN to support you. I'm sure she can set it up to be there, either by changing her hours on that day, or by re-arranging the scan appointment.
Good luck and let us know how it goes. xx
