There was a time when Harley had a cell phone specifically for receiving messages about RYL emergencies, but I'm guessing that time is long past. Personally, I don't think the people who say they want to be mods know what they are getting into in many cases. I would never ever EVER, even if I were paid, go back to being a moderator. That's not to say there weren't good things about it. It's nice to feel like you are helping to keep a place running smoothly and helping people, but the payoff just was never worth the bullshit. Harley was around pretty regularly when I was a moderator, so I can't imagine how much harder it is now. I was head chat mod for a very short time but I was never given any special powers to mod or demod anyone. I just had the power to tally up votes for new mods and call for meetings. Being in a position of power with no actual power can be very frustrating. Ultimately, there isn't much appreciation shown. Then again, every now and then when new chat mods do come along, I am shocked at the choices, and in those cases I've yet to be proven wrong about someone's lack of suitability to modding. Being a mod who has to work with another mod who doesn't know what they are doing can be pretty frustrating as well, so that affects all this too. I hope things get better for the chat mod team soon. I don't know how this has been affecting the forums, but good luck with that too.
