Takes up to 2 weeks for effects to be felt (except those pesty side effects) and up to 8 to take complete effect. Also, be VERY careful about what other meds you take while on any prescription drug. Your doc should've gone over this stuff...mine didn't either, though I'm an adult. I experienced some rapid mood swings when I first started taking an anti-depressant. Took awhile for the effects to really kick in. Generally, your energy and concentration are what improve first, and mood last. Also, once you're on anti-depressants, if you stop taking them suddenly you are likely to have serious withdrawal.
