I went through a phase after my s.136 in the summer and following autumn where seeing police officers in those reflective vests and four-door policevans would send chills down my spine because I was detained by them in one. However, I'm completely over it now. I've been treated well 80% of the time I've had contact with the police 3 times involving.. myself.

It's understandable when some don't treat you well and it's easy to dislike or even hate them as a whole, but there are many police officers who are simply doing their jobs and have a passion for it. If you speak to a few in an er.. non-urgent/non-confrontational situation, you'll find many are just.. you know. People. It'll help you overcome at least some of your phobia. It's also helpful to know that if one does badly mistreat you, you can get their badge numbers off their shoulder pads (I know there's another name for them, but it escapes my mind) and make a complaint to the IPCC.
