I totally agree with Sarawr about people being ill and not kicking off. In my experience, it's sometimes people who do kick off who aren't taken seriously, because the staff on my ward know when people are putting it on in order to stay longer (some people do that. And I'm not saying their difficulties aren't genuine, just that they go the wrong way about getting help).

I personally hated being sectioned, because I felt so much more restricted than when I'd been in voluntarily. I was lucky to have 2 hours escorted leave per day but that wasn't enough - spending too much time on the ward with its lack of stimulus is enough to drive me to despair. That said; I'm glad they did it. I wouldn't be alive without it.
