First post...here goes
I have used self injury as a way of coping since I was about 20. I stopped for several years as I didn't want to hurt those around me. But began again this year as following a break up in a relationship I felt I didn't need to worry so much about others finding out. (I'm very careful where I self injure) I have been seeking help from my docter and mental health services as I'd like to deal with the underlying reasons why I feel the need to self injure or self destruct in other ways.
I'm taking Mirtazapine 45 mg daily that seems to be helping quite a bit as I'm no longer feeling as actively suicidal.
I'm quite socially phobic and a lot of where I'm at now I think is to do with quite a lot of abuse and trauma in my past.
I've looked around the forums a bit, everyone here seems fairly friendly and I'm hoping that I'll be able to use the support here when I'm struggling with my thoughts and feelings. I also hope that maybe sometimes by sharing my experiences, knowledge or opinions I may be able to help others when they are struggling
So a big hello to eveyone. I have to warn you that I'm more than a bit crazy, but hopefully you'll find that I can also be good fun at times!
Ooh not sure I want to use my real name so for now I'll use the alias Life-hurts
