We had amazing ones because our next door neighbour was a tree surgeon. We hollowed out a hole in the middle of his log pile and then "thatched" it with lleylandii, it was quite big as we could fit 6 kids in it!
We also had an amazing treehouse that was basically a wendy house balanced on the top of a 10ft tree trunk. That was awesome and when we had friends to sleep over we'd camp out in it. It had a little hatch at the back with a rope ladder and we could open that in the very early morning and see deer that lived by the stream near us.
