I was acctually just talking about this in my training yesterday...with a ward deputy manager in a mental health hospital. So I'll tell you what we discussed.
It was bascially about an old pateint who had legally stated she didn't want to be sectioned as it would effect her job, this is how the disscussion started. We then asked, well if you have been sectioned does it affect your job? We were told that there is no reason it should if you are clear. An occupational health form will ask you if you have ever had issues with depression etc, and the best thing to be would be honest and state that you are x amount of years clear. But if you state that you haven't...unless they are extermly concerned....they acctually aren't allowed access to these records.
Your CRB is a criminal record check, on which your section 3 should not appear as it is not a Criminal section a section 3 is medical.
