I'm sorry, I don't know what to say (other than that you write beautifully), but I didn't want your post to go unanswered.
I don't know how long it is since you last saw your ex, but I know that sometimes people from my past will come into my head for whatever reason, even years later, and I won't be able to stop thinking about them for weeks. Even if I never really liked them, or knew them especially well (obviously they're not strangers or anything, though!) I'll just wonder what they're doing now and if they remember me, and I know that makes me sound pretty weird and egotistical, but it just happens. Then they'll disappear from my thoughts as quickly as they arrived.
Maybe, hopefully, she'll leave your thoughts soon enough and you won't feel so triggered.
